Status: HASBRO has licensed Multi-Man Publishing the exclusive
rights to the ongoing development of Advanced Squad Leader. In this
same licensing agreement MMP has the exclusive rights to PREASL (SQL,
COI, COD, GIA).

Until recently, SQUAD LEADER
Series (SQL, COI, COD, GIA) has been an orphaned game system which continues
due to its superior design, simplicity, and playability with appeal to those
not seeking and extremely complex and costly game system. Not to mention it
being one of the best sellers of the boardgame hobby.
The SQUAD LEADER community has been at a
disadvantage by existing Hasbro/MMP licensing of the ASL by default the
SQL Series. As ASL has been the has been the cornerstone of MMP, advocacy
of SQL series has been limited.
As such, purchase of
purchase replacement rulebooks, games, TAHGC Scenario cards, and/or game charts
for SQL Series (SQL4th, COI4th , COD1st, GIA2nd) has been the exclusive control
of MMP. However these items have not been available, with no plans make this
items available. . EBAY (www.ebay.com keyword 'Avalon Hill') has been the
only avenue of acquiring these items.
GOOD NEWS: By an agreement with MMP as of January, 2006,
MMP will be the rules online, and allowing a consolidated version to be developed.
Bill Thomson (SQLA Project Manager) will be driving the effort to supply these
materials under the overall project oversight of MMP representative, Alain
Chabot.
