SQLA 2006 CROSS OF IRON PBEM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

KICKOFF

updated 060105

  • The first two rounds of this event are running concurrently using different scenarios and different opponents.
  • The standard SQLA bidding procedure will be in use. Send your choice of sides, and if the lower ranked player in a pairing, your first bid to Bill Thomson (Bill and opponent send to Alan Yngve).
  • SQLA SIDE SELECTION PROCEDURE: Each player declares to a neutral party, their choice of side. If opposing sides are selected, those sides are played. If the same side is chosen, the players bid for side with the lower rated (seed) player bidding first. Bids may start at '0' and progress in whole numbers only. The bid is the numbers of dominate AT START squads to be added to the opposing side. The bid continues until one player accepts the opposing side whose force is augmented with that bid. Please report the bid, winning side and comments (i.e. uneven die rolls at key moments), as this data will be used for balance modification the scenario prior to its published form.
  • SCENARIO NOTES:
    GENERAL: When generating a setup with HIP units (armor leaders, boresighting hexes [represented by labeled acquired markers]); make sure you Logging is OFF so this information is not captured by the log and presented to your opponent. As the die rolls are by the honor system, using the inherent DR generator; it does not warrant using a third party as a drop box for other secret information. WGA Philosophy #01: The only people you can’t trust are the one’s who don’t trust anybody. If there was real money as an award, then using a system would be appropriate. However this is just for bragging rights and the plaque if funded. Exception below: OAF2.1.5.
    OAF2.1:
    1. The player wanting Americans bids to add German 467s to the AT START force. Players wanting Germans bids to add American 666s to the AT START force.
    2. Weather rules are NOT in play.
    3. In this scenario, the German player’s secret information is HIP setup and boresighting for the MMG.
    4. The German reinforcement hex can be rolled openly when this occurs.
    5. The American objective should be generated by using an email secured irony.com die roll, 1 roll of a four sided die with no modifier, copy Bill Thomson or Alan Yngve as appropriate. (http://irony.com/igroll.html).
    OAF3.1;
    1. The of lack of infantry in this scenario requires a modified bidding process. Players wanting to play Germans will bid to add T34C/76s to the Russian AT START force; players wanting to play Russians will bid to add additional PF43Bs to the German AT START force.
    2. The German secret information is the Armor leader location and boresighted hexes.
    3. No optional armament rolls are need: neither the German Panther or Tiger have OptNw in this scenario; the Russian vehicles have the optional AAMG as defined in the scenario html file.
    4. Given the mass of Russian AFVs, the MPh may take several mailings in the opening turns, as he Russian force is subject to a German tanker scoring kills. The balance of the Russian move is subject to revision (wreck cost on subsequent movement, etc).
