Thanks to Alain Chabot for this information.
Full Force scenariosare fully defines similar to that
which is included with the actual game. Board Layout, Start Sequence, # Turns;
Victory Conditions; Order of Battle of both sides; and Special Scenario rules.
Half Bid Scenarios are the trademark of Squad Leader
Academy which has been the featured format of SQLA tournaments. This format
allows a great variety of situations where players bid vs common cost menus
for one scenario force. All other factors (Board Layout, Start Sequence, # Turns;
Victory Conditions; Order of Battle of the scenario force; and Special Scenario
rules) are fully defined. The balance is determined by the bidding as each player
strives to define an effective minimize force to achieve victory with only a
slim safety margin. The lowest bidder plays his force and the high bidder adopts
the scenario force. A bid can be tailored to a players style and preferences.
Additionally, the scenario force can possess many oddball units or composition
not frequented in published scenarios. As the bidding controls the Balance (low
bids frequently win the bid but lose the game), extensive play testing is not
request. The bidding mechanism also reflects a players skill in analyzing the
victory conditions and what type of force has both the capability and economy
to achieve victory. Due to the greater variety of units in COI/COD/GIA regulated
by SQLA monthly rarity charts, Bidding at these rule levels is more demanding
and often more enjoyable than the game itself.
